Medicine and Surgery in the Middle East
Fox Run Equine Center has had a satellite practice in Cairo, Egypt since 1980. There is a large number of endurance horses, along with racing horses, and other show horses. Although the practice is primarily farm based, there is access to a surgery room.
The practice began as a consulting practice for Americans purchasing Arabian horses. This soon became a burgeoning practice for many of the local horse owners wanting expert medical and surgical care.
Since then, Dr. Leonard has traveled to Cairo several times per year to offer his services. More recently, the practice has expanded to Kuwait where horses are making a comeback following the first Gulf War devastation of that country.
The practice is based in Giza, outside of Cairo, near the Great Pyramids at the edge of the desert. This is an amazing site!
